How to stream apps

Streaming apps is one of the core features of Chromaport. It allows you to run applications on one computer (host) and access them from another device (client), such as a phone, tablet, or another desktop.

Before you start

To stream apps, make sure you have completed the following steps:

Streaming from Apps view

The most common way to stream an app is through the Apps view.

  • Open Chromaport on your device
  • Go to the Apps view
  • Click on the app you want to launch
  • Select the computer you want to stream it from

If the app is available on multiple computers, you will be able to choose which host to use. This is useful when you have the same app installed on different machines.

Once selected, Chromaport will connect to the chosen computer and start streaming the application to your device.

Streaming from Computer view

You can also start streaming from the Computers view.

  • Go to the Computers view
  • Select a computer
  • Choose and launch one of the available applications

This method is useful when you want to access a specific computer and then decide which app to run from it.

How streaming works

When you launch an app:

  • The application runs on the host computer
  • Video and input are streamed to your device in real time
  • Your device acts as a client, displaying and controlling the session
