Managing members
In this article, you’ll learn how to manage members in your workspace, including editing roles, assigning computers, and controlling access.
Managing members is an essential part of using Chromaport in a collaborative environment. Once you invite users to your workspace, you can control what they can do and what resources they can access.
Where to manage members
To manage members:
- Go to Settings in the application
Here, you will see a list of all workspace members along with their assigned roles (e.g. Owner, Contributor, Member Manager, Guest).
Viewing member details
Click on a member from the list to open their profile.
In this view, you can:
- See 'Roles of this member', which shows their current workspace roles (also visible as tags in the members list)
- View which computers they have access to
- Manage permissions for each assigned computer
Editing roles
You can change a member’s role at any time.
There are two ways to do this:
- Click directly on the role tags (e.g. Contributor, Member Manager, Guest) next to the user’s name in the Settings list
- Click on a user in that list and then use 'Edit roles' (top right)
Assigning multiple roles expands the user’s capabilities within the workspace.
Assigning computers
By default, members do not have access to any computers.
To assign a computer:
- Click on a member in Settings
- Click 'Assign computers'
- Select from the available list
Only computers that are not already assigned will appear. If all computers are already assigned, you will see 'No computers found'.
Managing computer permissions
Once a computer is assigned, you can define what actions the member can perform on it.
Each computer has a permissions button (e.g. “1/5 permissions”) that allows you to enable or disable specific actions.
Changes must be confirmed by clicking 'Apply'.
For more detailed information, see the article: Computer permissions
Removing access
You can remove a member’s access to a computer in two ways:
From member settings:
- Go to Settings
- Click on a member
- Click 'Unassign' next to the selected computer
From Computers view:
- Go to Computers view
- Select a computer
- Click 'Manage access'
- Click 'Unassign' next to the selected member
Important notes
- A computer cannot be unassigned from its owner
- The owner always has full permissions (5/5)
- Owner permissions cannot be modified or restricted
- Some actions (like “Unassign” or permission toggles) are disabled for owners
Summary
Managing members in Chromaport gives you full control over collaboration. By assigning roles, granting access to computers, and adjusting permissions, you can create a secure and flexible environment tailored to your needs.
